Dear friends! I cordially congratulate you with New Year 2016 and Christmas!

Dear friends! I cordially congratulate you with New Year 2016 and Christmas!

Together with Ukrainian nation during all 365 days of 2015 we were the defenders of Ukraine. We were concerned about all the challenges, that at the same time arose in front of Ukraine, we were not passive observers of the events, but we lived them in volunteer projects, actions, dedicated to support our army and people, who needed our participation. We started to teach children from permanently occupied territories, we launched the project of Ukrainian language learning, that provoked the interest in the USA, Canada, Latin America, Australia, Asia and Europe, realizing the mission of the University of Grinchenko: “To serve a person, a community, a society”. We continued our social project “From and to Kyiv”, our students reached world-, European- and Uknianian-wide achievements in Sports, became the winners of creative competitions, festivals and scientific olimpiads.

In 2015 the University, based on the quantity of the submitted applications, gained the 1st position among higher educational institutions based on the indicator of competition per budget places and the second position based on the general competition. From 12th May the laboratory of Embedded systems started to work at the University. It was opened in the framework of international project TEMPUS DESIRE. In spring we received equipment for GOLDi distance laboratory, that is needed to learn the foundations of electronics and electrical engineering. Thanks to this project 3D printer and 3D scanner appeared at our educational institution. Therefore, it opened new opportunities for students of the 1st and 2st cycles of education, postgraduate and PhD students.

The University, being supported by the authorities of the capital and having sufficient financial funds, continued to develop, renovate and strengthen its material basis, to support everyone in complex development and his/her formation as a leader. Our University strengthened its authority in Ukraine and at the international level, having successfully implemented joint projects with foreign partners, by widening its presence in open educational networks.

We accepted to the University’s family 2728 students. Our collective unites today 9 870 students and colleagues, as well as more than 6 500 pedagogues of the capital, who annually upgrade their professional qualification. To each of you, to all friends of our University I thank for work and civil position.

I am sure that the next year will become the year of stepping forward for our University in order to assure high level of quality of education and research. I sincerely wish you, all friends of our University and all the citizens of Ukraine peace, happiness and prosperity!

Yours sincerely,

Viktor Ogneviuk

Otherwise – What For?

Before I begin I bring my apologies to the academic community for the publicistic style. Research has frozen. I will also understand my critics for the abruptness of my style. I plead your understanding. In my opinion, in days of revolutionary passions the most important task is to keep the uniting idea shared by the intelligent people of the society.

On the 1st of December people came out into the streets less in response to the opposition’s call more of a threat to every person’s dignity. The President cheered the beating and battery of ordinary citizens in Euro-Maidan, and the Attorney General confirmed its legality, that was the power which brought hundreds of thousands of people into the streets of Kyiv.

Practically everyone who followed the call of their our consciousness and came out to protest did not care why those people were attacked or what banners they stood under. I speak for myself here. If the police werewolves had equally violently treated the governmental Party of Regions’ in Maidan I would not hesitate to condemn “the bloody Saturday” too. I took personally the beating of students because a Master program student of my university was among them, so it was an attack on myself, my profession and my Dignity.

My Dear Students! Friends and Colleagues!

During the last six years, these days were the holidays for our University, the days of Borys Grinchenko, our prominent educator. His 150 anniversary is on the 9th of November 2013.

This year we have postponed all our celebrations, because of the difficult social and political situation in Kyiv and Ukraine. I believe that o overcoming all these trials Ukraine in its further development will follow the way based on the principles of serving our people, our community and society.

The dream will definitely come true because we are worthy of it!
