On 17th March, students of the Institute of Philology attended guest lecture "Implementation of modern world experience teaching foreign languages for specific purposes in higher educational institutions of Ukraine" by Katherine Woddell, lecturer of the chair of Methodology of teaching foreign languages for specific purposes Thompson Rivers University, Canada.

For over 15 years of teaching ESP (English for Special Purposes) Katherine Woddell developed and implemented in training specialized programs studying English for such disciplines as: education, social work, psychology and others. This year, she visited Kyiv at the Third Annual International Forum Language Teachers FLT Forum 2017, on March 15-16.

Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University students got a unique opportunity to listen a lecture by Mrs. Woddell about techniques and peculiarities of teaching English as a foreign language for specific purposes, held with the support representative “Alec” company – Oleg Babenko and joint efforts of SRL of internationalization of higher education and the Institute of Philology.

From 1 to 4 March 2017 professor of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” – Hristo Kaftandzhyyev within the lectures met with students and teachers of the Institute of Journalism.

The first day of the visit, he presented with the lecture "Archetypes in marketing communications." The next lecture meetings Hristo Kaftandzhyyev revealed the promotion of modern communication world, the role of semiotics, images and symbols in modern advertising and so on. In his lectures professor cited examples from films, promotional videos and architecture.

Students of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University Media School and the International Certificate Training Program "Communication Security" were lucky to meet well-known expert in advertising and marketing communications Hristo Kaftandzhyyevym. On March 4, participants had the opportunity listed to the lectures about the peculiarities of advocacy and communication.

During the final lecture on March 4, head of the chair of Advertising and Public Relations Novokhatko Leonid and Associate Professor, Alexander Kurban thanked to Hristo Kaftandzhyyev and presented him with Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University certificate for theprofessional excellence.

Erasmus + program with the University of Cadiz (Spain)

Due to the agreement on international cooperation with the Vilnius University (Lithuania), our students have the opportunity to study one semester on an exchange program at a partner university.

It is already the fourth exchange program for our students. Spring semester 2017 in Lithuania will spend students of the third year of the Faculty of Information Technology and Governance – Daryna Makukha and of the Faculty of Law and International Relations – Daria Biki.

We wish our students inspiration and success in studying!

 

Final meeting of the TEMPUS-project DesIRe

Within the framework of international project TEMPUS-DesIRE «Development courses on embedded systems using innovative approaches for virtual integration of science, education and industry in Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia," 544091-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-BE-TEMPUS-JPCR, in which Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University is participated, on February 20-23 in Mechelen, in Thomas More University (Belgium) was held reporting meeting of the project-participants, whose aim was to summarize completed tasks of the project.

The meeting attended scientists of higher educational institutions of Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Slovakia, Belgium. Our university was represented by the project coordinator, Vice-Rector on Informational Technologies – Nataliia Morze and a senior lecturer of the Chair of Information Technologies and Mathematic Disciplines Maria Gladun.

The participants listened to presentations of all partners (Ukraine, Armenia, Georgia, Belgium, Slovakia) on the realization the tasks of the project, discussed the results of the pilot study, determined the plan for further implementation of embedded systems in the learning process. Nataliia Morze greeted and informed participants about the implementation of the project in the educational process of our University. (Presentation)

The main areas of the project were:

  • study and training the University teachers in the field of STEM-education and embedded systems;
  • preparing and implementation of pilot studies the future professionals for the modern labor market and use of embedded systems, robotics;
  • updating curricula and development of electronic courses on embedded systems;
  • events devoted to the popularization STEM-education;
  • formation of competencies of future professionals necessary for the labor market of embedded systems;
  • foundation the laboratory of embedded systems and it use to enhance the interest of students to the design and use of embedded systems, robotics;
  • involvement of external stakeholders, signing agreements on cooperation, holding open lessons.

Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University actively works in the sphere of international cooperation, expanding the number of partners around the world. In early March were signed two agreements on international cooperation with Mykolas Romeris University (Vilnius, Lithuania) and Jan Długosz University of Częstochowa (Częstochowa, Poland).

Mykolas Romeris University – higher educational institution in Vilnius, which has about 17,000 students. Mykolas Romeris University has five faculties: Faculty of Economics and Management, Finance, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Policy and Management, Faculty of Social Technologies, Faculty of Public Safety, which include 13 institutes, 9 faculties and Business and Media School.

Jan Długosz University of Częstochowa ismodern public higher educational institution with 40 years history. The University systematically monitors current trends in the labor market and change educational process in accordance with modern requirements, taking into account the development of Western and Eastern Europe, allowing academic institutions to be one of the best scientific and teaching centers of modern Poland.

Within the framework of agreements on international cooperation is planned program of academic mobility for students (more at link) and teachers.

The initiators of signing the agreements with Jan Długosz University of Częstochowa were Director of the Institute of Journalism Halyna Horbenko and the Mykolas Romeris University – Head of the Chair of Fitness and Recreation Faculty of Health, Physical Education and Sports – Andrij Boliak.

New Year Grinchenko University starts with new research and educational project! On 31st January was the meeting of the working group of the project “Development of competencies for democratic citizenship in the system of training future teachers”, which will be implemented at the University together with the European Wergeland Centre and the Center for Educational Monitoring.
