Official meeting with the attaché of the university and scientific relations of the Embassy of France in Ukraine

January 19, 2017, was hold an official meeting Rector of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, Full Member of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine – Viktor Ogneviuk with attaché of the university and scientific relations of the Embassy of France in Ukraine – Sylvain Rihole and coordinator of Campus France Ukraine – Olga Dorosh.

Participants discussed the future cooperation between the Embassy of France in Ukraine and the Grinchenko University in the context of the preparation and training of teachers of French, as well as the cooperation of the University with French universities for joint research projects and participation in the Erasmus + program, including academic mobility of students and teachers.

 

Internships of scientific workers of SRL of internationalization of higher education at prestigious European universities

During December 2016, workers of SRL of internationalization of higher education Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University had internships at prestigious European universities.

Olena Humeniuk had scientific internship in Germany according to the scholarship of German-Ukrainian Commission of Historians. She worked at the project “Ukrainian student’s movement in the interwar Germany”. During a month Olena Humeniuk researched materials of archives and library of Ukrainian Free University in Munich, but also of Bavarian and Berlin state libraries. Also Olena Humeniuk negotiated about collaboration between Ukrainian Free University and Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University. 30 th November 2016, Olena Humeniuk presented with open lecture “Statehood traditions of Ukrainian emigration in XX century” for pedagogical staff and students of Ukrainian Free University and Ukrainian community in Munich.

Tetiana Opryshko got scholarship of the Faculty “Artes Liberales” Warsaw University (Poland). The topic of her research was the role of library in the process of development of modern higher institutions: based on the Warsaw University experience. Second part of research was connected with investigation the work of editorial boards of scientific publications that are indexed international scientometric databases Scopus and Web of Science and promoting them at international level. It was also agreed with the representative of Warsaw University Library for inclusion in the collection of their funds 5 most prestigious publications of University Grinchenko.

In general, internships at foreign universities enable for creation new ideas and approaches for the development of our University and must be implemented in practice.

December 13, 2016 the Seventh International Telebridge between Master students in History of Seton Hall University (Head – Professor James K. Daly) and the students of the Faculty of History and Philosophy of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University (Head - Associate Professor Olga Tarasenko) was held in the form of Skype-conference.

The Seventh International Telebridge was dedicated to the report of American historians about execution of their part of American-Ukrainian research-scientific project ‘Research of history of Ukrainian diaspora in New Jersey (the USA) with the help of digital technologies’.

American partners dedicated their project to learning history of Orthodox church in New Jersey and general characteristics of four waves of Ukrainian immigration to the USA. The report of Ukrainian Master students in History on execution of their part of the project is planned to be presented in April 2017.

The Memorandum of Intent with the European Wergeland Centre was signed on the Day of the University. This organization is an expert center in the field of education for democratic citizenship, human rights and intercultural understanding founded by Council of Europe and Norway in 2008 to support the Member States of the Council of Europe in implementing policy in this sphere.

The meeting was attended by Viktor Ogneviuk, Rector of the Grinchenko University; Ana Perona-Fjeldstad, executive director of the European Wergeland Centre; Pavlo Polansky, senior researcher of SRL of internationalization of higher education of the Grinchenko University; Natalia Vinnikova, Vice-rector for Research of the Grinchenko University; Iryna Sabor, program manager "Democratic School", a senior adviser of the European Wergeland Centre; Anastasia Rozlutska, expert of NGO "Center for Educational Monitoring".

Participants discussed future cooperation and participation of the Grinchenko University in common with the European Wergeland Centre project "Democracy at school".

 

The Round table with participation of Deputies of European Parliament from Poland was held at Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University

December 2, 2016 the Round table "European values as a factor of social transformation: experience of Poland and Ukraine" was held at Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University.

Viktor Ogneviuk, Rector of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, addressed the guests with a welcome speech, in which he noted the symbolism of the day the Round table was held. Exactly on 2 December, 1991 Poland became the first country to recognize the Independence of Ukraine. The participants of the Round table were welcome by Henryk Sobchuk, Director of the Representative Office of Polish Academy of Sciences in Kyiv. In the speech he stressed the importance of the theme of the event for the development of cooperation in scientific and state formative spheres between Ukraine and Poland.

In the framework of the Round table the presentation of Ukrainian translation of the book “Democracy of periphery” by Zdzislaw Krasnodebski, Deputy of European Parliament of VIII convocation, famous Polish scientist, political philosopher, Professor was held. The translation of the book was made by Ukrainian scientists: Yaroslav Pasko, Hennadiy Korzhov and Oksana Byelyakova.

Professor Ryshard Legutko, Deputy of European Parliament of VIII convocation, Professor of Jagiellonian University, Polish politician, philosopher presented the paper “Democracy and totalitarian temptations”.

During the discussion the participants of the Round table analyzed the Ukrainian progress in its way towards eurointegration, debated about values as a factor of social transformations, identified the challenges, risks, and threats of development of European society. Guests from Poland and Ukrainian scientists agreed that exchange of such an experience will ensure the acceleration of implementation of European values and development of unique ways of modernization.

On 25-th of November was the meeting between the General Director of International Relations of University of Cadiz (Spain) Juan Carlos Garcia Galindo with students of our University who were selected by the University’s committee for the program of academic mobility Erasmus K107.

Mr. Juan Carlos University presented out students Cadiz University, told with the details of participation in the Erasmus + program and provided many useful suggestions.

The agreement of international cooperation with the University of Foggia (Italy)

After the announcementabout signing of the bilateral agreement on academic cooperation between the University of Foggia (Italy) and Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University were presented and discussed prospects of collaboration in projects Horizon 2020, Erasmus KA2, expanding the program of academic mobility of students and scholars Erasmus + 2018-2019, Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions, participation in joint research projects and the Italian Language Association, Research Laboratory ERID and other types of academic cooperation.

During the training within academic program Erasmus +, Julia Shtaltovna, senior research worker of SRL of Internationalization of Higher Education of our University, presented the main directions of scientific research of Humanities Institute University of Foggia featuring Director of the Institute and the Vice-Rector on Science of the University.

According to the results of the program of academic mobility Erasmus + 2016-2017 with University of Foggia (Italy), five students (three on specialty "Practical Psychology" and two on specialty "Philology. Italian language and literature") and three lecturers of the chair of Romance Philology and typological and comparative linguistics Institute of Philology Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University had academic training at the University of Foggia.

Professor of economics Pierpaolo Magliocca have visited us with guest-lectures from Italian University and the next semester two students from the University of Foggia would study in our University.
