November 9, 2016 within the project Tempus "Education for leadership, intelligence and development of talent» (ELITE - Education for Leadership, Intelligence and Talent Encouraging) at Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University was held the Second International Scientific and Practical Conference "University and Leadership".

Participants of the conference were greeted by Daina Hudoniyene, coordinator of the project Tempus program, Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania); Simon Williams, Director of the British Council in Ukraine (UK); Vasyl Kremen, President of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine (Ukraine).

At the plenary session of the conference key speakers were: Jill Jamison, University of Greenwich (UK), Victor Ogneviuk, Rector of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University (Ukraine); Vuokko Kohtamaki, University of Tampere (Finland), Gregory Rayter, Rayter Corporation (USA).

Conference continued with the next thematic sessions:

  • "Leadership Practices: program of development leadership potential of Ukrainian universities"
  • "The quality of higher education"
  • "Cooperation with the business"
  • "The practice of leadership in Ukrainian universities"

The results of the conference summarized moderator of the event, Svetlana Kalashnikova, Director of Institute of Higher Education National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, who underlined the importance of the universities’ participation in the international projects, and invited participants to the Third International Scientific Conference "University and Leadership", that would take place on the basic of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University in May 2017.

November 8th 2016, at Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University was officially opened the photo exhibition "Japan and the UN - 60 years of Japan's membership in the United Nations". The event was supported by the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine.

At the official opening were the representatives of the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine: Mr. Harada Michio, Deputy Chief of Mission of Japan to Ukraine, Adviser to the Minister of the Embassy of Japan; Mr. Tandzhi Hideyuki, Head of Education and the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine, First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan; Mr. Kyrylo Yaroshyk, the press secretary of the Embassy of Japan.

Viktor Ogneviuk, Rector of our University greeted guests and students. He underlined the importance of the opening of the exhibition "Japan and the UN - 60 years of Japan's membership in the United Nations" in our University, and also pointed out, that Japan is a unique country in which coexist harmoniously traditions of the past and technologies of the future.

After greetings, in the hall of the Academic Council of the University was held a lecture of Mr. Michio Harada on "Ukrainian-Japanese relations".               Mr. Michio Harada told about his life experience, about Japan's role in the world community and the possibility of cooperation between the two countries. Students of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University actively participated in the discussion.

Important to note, that during the official visit of President of Ukraine to Japan was declared that 2017 would be the year of Japan in Ukraine. We hope that this will contribute to further cooperation in the educational, economic, cultural and other spheres between our countries.

The results of the competition program of academic mobility in the framework of the cooperation agreement with the University of Vilnius (Lithuania)

The Grinchenko University finished nomination procedure for academic mobility program as part of a cooperation agreement with Vilnius (Lithuania) in the spring semester of 2016-2017.

Based on documents provided by the students, given the level of student achievement, proficiency in a foreign language, academic achievements, participation in University life Competition Commission recommended following students:

  • Makukha Daria, "Bachelor" student specialty "Finance and credit" of the Faculty of Information Technology and Management (3rd year).
  • Biki Daria, "Bachelor" student specialty "Country Studies" Faculty of Law and International Relations (3rd year).

Signing the agreement on cooperation with University of Applied Sciences in Wałcz (Poland)

In November was signed the agreement with University of Applied Sciences in Wałcz (Poland). The agreement provides cooperation between students of both universities, working of joint research projects, participation in the Erasmus + program, inviting lecturers and professors of our University for teaching pedagogical subjects in the Polish university in the following specialties: preschool and primary education, Polish and English language and literature, physical education.

The agreement was signed due to the initiative Nataliji Bogdanets-Biloskalenko, doctor of pedagogical sciences, associate professor of the chair of Ukrainian Literature and Comparativistics of the Institute of Philology.

Agreement on cooperation with Ariel University (Israel)

This year our University has signed one more agreement on cooperation with a foreign university. The aim of the contract is to establish contacts between staff of partner universities in the fields of arts, social work and psychology.

Ariel University and Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University universities` teamwork will be implemented as an academic exchange program, as invitations to the scientists to attend conferences and symposia, as publications and educational materials exchange. The agreement between the Ariel University and Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University was initiated by Olga Oleksiuk, doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor, head of department of theory and methodology of music at Institute of Arts.

Seminar on "How to use resources of the platform" “Web of Science”

At the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University continues series of seminars for scientific and pedagogical staff, students, graduate students, doctoral students on using of resources platform «Web of Science», to which University had test access since April 2016.

Participants have the opportunity to learn how to search and gather information on the platform Web of Science; how to identify the highest priority areas of research in their field of science; finding collaboration partners and organizations that fund grants; how to search for external reviewers of the scientific journal; how to choose the magazine for its publication; how to work with managers to process bibliographic reference list; how to track their index of citations and publications of its staff unit of the university; how to create your own profile in the registers of scientists and Researcher ID and ORCID for their correct citation of articles, opportunities to participate in international rankings scientists, applying for grants, etc.; how to distinguish "predatory" magazines do not fall into the hands of crooks etc.

Seminars has been already held at the Faculty of Law and International Relations, Institute of Philology, University College. Seminars are conducted by the scientific researcher of SRL of internationalization of higher education Tetiana Opryshko.

20th October 2016, with this topic was the representative of Thomson Reuters Irina Tyhonkova at the Faculty of History and Philosophy. After the report, participants had the opportunity to ask questions. Ms. Irina also gave to the University library book "Guide to scientometrics: Indicators of development of science and technology."

    On the 14th – 17th 2011 in Malmo, Sweden, the General Assembly of European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA) approved the application form of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University as an Associate Member of EAEA.


    European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA) is the European non-profit organization and a European NGO with 116 member organizations in 43 countries. EAEA influences EU policies on non-formal adult education and lifelong learning; represents adult education civil society in official working groups and conferences.

    The benefits for our University as a member of the Association are as follows:

    - We can add our voice to the debate on adult education and actively support the advocacy work for adult education in Europe.
