 On 18-21 March, 2013, invited by the Department of English Philology of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, Professor of Ludwig Maximilians University Munich, Vice-President of the International Association of Empirical Aesthetics (1996-1998), President of Poetics and Linguistics Association (PALA, 2000-2003), President of the International Society for the Empirical Study of Literature (IGEL, 2004-2006), co-founder of the international project REDES (2001-2009), co-editor of a series of books “Linguistic Approaches to Literature” (John Benjamins, 2000-2010), editor-in-chief of the journal “Scientific Study of Literature” (John Benjamins), Willie van Peer gave a series of lectures at our University.
The systematic course of lectures familiarized the audience with the benefits of use of empirical methods while studying languages and literatures. Prof. Willie van Peer also conducted a series of classes on the use of SPSS in modern philology. The course was directed both at young researchers, as well as experiences scientists in the field, and was attended by guest from various institutions of Ukraine: Institute of Philology of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy”, Kyiv National Linguistic University, Institute of Humanities at National Aviation University, the National Pedagogical Dragomanov University, Kherson State University. Within the framework of W. van Peer’s stay in Kyiv, he together with the students and professors from the Department of English Philology visited “Aspern” charity fund, that provides help for children from dysfunctional familie
