On October 10-12, 2013 the Humanitarian Institute of our University organized the International Scientific Conference "The Word and the Sentence: Syntactics, Semantics and Pragmatics" for scientists, academics and students from Ukraine, Russia and Belarus.
Viktor Ogneviuk, Rector of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, opened the Conference and welcomed all its participants. Liudmila Khoruzha, Vice-Rector on Research and Olena Bondareva, the Director of the Humanitarian Institute, wished everyone to have the productive discussions and to enlarge the vision of modern linguistics issues.
During the plenary sessions linguists were discussing:
- The sentence and the text in synchrony and diachrony.
- The word syntagmatics, paradigmatics, epidigmatics.
- Cognitive and discursive paradigm in the linguistics.
- The language and the culture of the XXI century.
Participants had an opportunity to listen to the reports of the modern researchers in the field of linguistics:

- Anatoliy Sharandin, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Director of the Philology Institute of Tambov State University named after GR Derzhavin (Tambov, Russia).
- Larysa Belehova, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor of Kherson State University (Kherson, Ukraine).
- Andriy Levistsky, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Kyiv, Ukraine).
- Olga Vorobiova, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor of Kyiv National Linguistic University (Kyiv, Ukraine).
