Visit to Stuttgart, Germany

On October 16, 2013 in the framework of the program "Youth will Change Ukraine" under the patronage of Bohdan Havrylyshyn Foundation, six young scientists from our University went to Stuttgart – the capital of the state of Baden-Wurttemberg in southern Germany.

Stuttgart is the sixth largest city in Germany and the powerful technological and machine engineering industry center.

Our researchers met with Martin Raiser, Dr. in Engineering, and Head of the Waste Management and Emissions Chair of the Institute for Sanitary Engineering, Water Quality and Solid Waste Management of the University Stuttgart. Martin Raiser told them about the system of the environmental protection in Germany. Young scientists had an opportunity to visit the water cleaning construction.

On October, 17 the group from our University arrived in Munich – the heart of Bavaria and the third largest city in Germany. It is a well-known tourist, scientific and cultural center. Scientists visited the Ukrainian Free University. It was established in 1921 and it is one of the oldest private educational institutions in Germany. Ukrainian Free University is the only university in the world beyond Ukrainian borders where the language of tuition is Ukrainian.

During the meeting with Andriy Dovganiuk, Chancellor of the Ukrainian Free University, scientists were discussing the peculiarities of the educational legislation in Germany.

On October, 18 young scientists visited the scientific laboratory in the German museum – one of the biggest technical museums in Europe. Traudel Weber, a teacher and employee of the museum, presented the educational programs in which students of Ukraine can participate. The Educational Department of the museum is oriented at giving theoretical and practical skills to the visitors.

The same day the young researches had a meeting with Felix Mayer, Dr. in Philological Sciences, Prof., Director of Munich Institute of Foreign Languages and Translation, Regina Freudenfeld, Dr., Head of the German Department and Katharna Wenzi, Dr. Phil. (RUS), Head of the Russian Department of the Institute. During the meeting the participants discussed the peculiarities of the higher education in Germany and Ukraine.
