Guest Lecture of Dr. David Slykhuis (USA)

On November 7, 2013 students of our University had an opportunity to attend the guest lecture "New Tendencies of Modern Information Technologies Usage in Media Communications" delivered by Dr. David Slykhuis,

 

an Associate Professor of Science Education at James Madison University where he teaches the secondary science methods and educational technology courses.  Dr. Slykhuis is also the Director of the Content Teaching Academy at James Madison University and co-Director of the JMU Center for STEM Education and Outreach.  Dr. Slykhuis has recently been elected as the President-Elect for the Society of Information Technology and Teacher Education and will serve a three-year term as President starting in 2014.  His research interest lie at the intersection of science, technology, and student learning. He is also the world’s only two-time Microsoft PIL-TEI Distinguished Scholar, leading TEI workshops in Stockholm and Dubai.

At the lecture students of the master's programs discussed the issues of the use of social networks in the education environment. Students underlined the usefulness of Facebook, Vkontakte although Dr. Slykhuis marked Twitter as the most widespread social network.
