Administrative and Rectorate Building of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University

The National Bank of Ukraine introduced into circulation a commemorative coin "Borys Grinchenko" within the frame of the project "Famous Ukrainian Personalities" .

On November 21, 2013 the commemorative coin "Borys Grinchenko" was presented in Borys Grinchenko Museum. Honorable guests of this event were Suzanska Viktoriia, Deputy Chief of Numismatic Products and Marketing of the National Bank of Ukraine, Fandikova Natalia, author of the sketches and Viktor Ogneviuk, Rector of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University.

Suzanska Viktoriia pointed out that "issues connected with the preservation of spirituality of Ukrainian nation, which was mentioned by Borys Grinchenko a century ago, are still actual nowadays. Releasing this memorable coin, the National Bank of Ukraine honors Borys Grinchenko, a prominent figure in the history of Ukraine who contributed a lot to the development of Ukrainian language and literature. and underlines the importance to follow his ideas and support Ukrainian language and culture".

Viktor Ogneviuk, Rector of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, thanked the guests for the attention Borys Grinchenko, an important figure of Ukrainian history and national culture: "His life was dedicated to youth education, he encouraged young people to love their native land and Ukrainian language. By all his life and career Borys Grinchenko demonstrated the importance of each individual's contribution to the common issue".

Fandikova Natalia, an artist who has designed the coin, said that she was inspired by the literary heritage of Borys Grinchenko. "Working with the sketches, I tried to remember the works of Borys Grinchenko which I read earlier and came across the idea that they were filled in with love to Ukraine. So, the epigraph to the coin is one of the writer's expressions "... Ukraine. Everything is in this word for me", - said Natalia.

The circulation of "Borys Grinchenko" coin is 20 000.
