  1. New Master’s degree program 025.00.01 "Musical Art" in English

It is the firstMaster’s degree programin Ukraine offered in English. The program proposes an excellent combination of long-standing educational traditions and a modern innovative approach to mastering musical and performing skills guarantees training of competitive specialists according to the world standards. Master's training conducted in English will undoubtedly contribute to the successful employment of graduates in art institutions around the world.

Future performers have the opportunity to master the instrumental and performing skills under supervision of the greatest specialists including Honored Artists of Ukraine, Honored and People's Artists of Ukraine, Doctors of Philosophy and Doctors of Science, known in Ukraine and abroad. The students are proposed to master playing the piano, string instruments, woodwind instruments and brass instruments.

The uniqueness of the system of the instrumentalists training within the master's program is provided by a combination of individual and group trainings, and the major focus on individual form of training guarantees mastery of musical performance in special musical instrument, instrumental ensemble and instrumental improvisation classes.

The instrumentalists master's training ensures continuity in preserving the heritage of outstanding Ukrainian musicians-teachers. After all, the professional experience of the performer-instrumentalist, who brings elements of novelty into practice, is formed with a focus on what has already been achieved in historical development.

The innovative curriculum combines high-level instrumental, methodological, musicological and managerial training with the practical skills needed to succeed as a soloist, ensemble/ orchestra artist and teacher.

Learning conditions:

Term of study: 2 years (determined by the program and curriculum)

Form of study: full-time.

Forms and methods of the educational process organization:

The educational process is dominantly made of the individual classeswith musical instruments, practical lessons, seminars, workshops by invited specialists, concert performances and lecture courses. Students will gain the widest orchestral/ ensemble experience possible. The program previews independent study of theoretical material using elements of distance learning and the implementation of creative projects by students. An important component of the program is professional practice of two types: labor (concert performance) and assistant one.

In case of successful implementation of the curriculum (full course of theoretical and practical training and final attestation), graduates receive a standard document (diploma) on the award of a master's degree in the qualification: Master of Music.

Tuition fee:

Training for a degree program 025.00.01 "Music" for the second (master's) level of higher education (training of foreign citizens) is carried out on contractual basis with tuition fees at the expense of individuals (legal entities).

Tuition fee is USD 6,300 per academic year.

 

  1. Bachelor’s degree program 023.00.01 «Fine arts» in Ukrainian

Bachelor’s degree program 023.00.01 "Fine Arts" in Ukrainian is also offered for training of foreign citizens. It combines the best classical and contemporary approaches to mastering of various techniques of drawing, painting and printed graphics, modern art, 3D art objects with the introduction of digital art and VR technologies to train competitive professionals in accordance with international standards. The program follows the latest requirements to proportion of theory and practice, has an experimental and innovative nature.

Practical classes take place in educational workshops: drawing and painting; printed graphics and printing; artistic ceramics and metal enameling; jewelry art. The classrooms are equipped with professional appliances and tools: studio easels, tablets, plaster casts; electric potter's wheel, kilns for firing ceramics, muffle kiln for horizontal loading of firing enamels, etc.

The program provides annual open air events in picturesque parts of Ukraine. Future artists have the opportunity to be taught by acknowledged masters of the craft, including Folk and Honored artists of Ukraine, PhDs and doctors of science well-known in Ukraine and abroad which will contribute to successful employment of graduates in art institutions around the world.

Forms and methods of the educational process organizing:

The educational process is dominantly made up of practical classes in drawing and painting, master classes from invited professionals are also previewed. Students will gain experience of working with plastic materials. The program previews the implementation of creative projects, participation in art exhibitions and competitions. Different types of practice (educational, labor and pedagogical) are important components of the program.

In case of successful implementation of the curriculum (full course of theoretical and practical training and final attestation) graduates receive a standard document on the award of a bachelor's degree with the qualification: Bachelor of Fine Arts in "Fine Arts, Decorative Arts, Restoration", teacher of fine arts - painter or graphic artist.

Tuition fee

Training of applicants for the Bachelor’s degree program 023.00.01 "Fine Arts" (training of foreign citizens) is carried out on contractual terms with tuition at the expense of individuals (legal entities).

Tuition fee is USD 3,500 per academic year.

 

Prerequisites for foreign citizens’ admission

As the Bachelor’s degree program 023.00.01 "Fine Arts" (training of foreign citizens) is taught in Ukrainian the main demand to the foreign applicants is to possess Ukrainian language which must be proved by proper Certificate.

Otherwise foreign citizens are enrolled to any Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Ukrainian to Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University after prior training at the Preparatory Department for foreign citizens to acquire basic professional and Ukrainian language skills (more details: http://partner.kubg.edu.ua/admission/preparatory-department.html )

The Institute of Arts also offers to foreign students Bachelor’s degree programs in instrumental performance (in Ukrainian), namely 025.00.03 "Instrumental performance (piano)" and 025.00.04 "Instrumental performance (orchestral string, folk, wind and percussion instruments)". Future artists have the opportunity to master the instrumental and performing skills with recognized in Ukraine and abroad professionals in the field, including Honored Artists of Ukraine, Honored and People's Artists of Ukraine, Doctors of Philosophy and Doctors of Science.

The students are proposed to master playing the piano, string instruments, woodwind instruments and brass instruments.

The uniqueness of the system of training instrumentalists within these bachelor's programs is a combination of individual and group training with the dominance of individual classes of musical performance that let them deepen in subjects such as special musical instrument, orchestra, piano duet, instrumental ensemble, composition and improvisation. The innovative curriculum combines high-level instrumental, methodological, musicological and managerial training with the practical skills needed to succeed as a soloist, ensemble/ orchestra artist and teacher.

the educational process is dominated by individual lessons of playing the musical instruments, practical classes, seminars, workshops by invited specialists, concert performances and lecture courses. Students will gain a wide orchestral/ ensemble experience. Both programs preview self-studying somehow via distance learning practice as well as the implementation of creative projects, participation in art exhibitions and competitions. Different types of practice (concert performing and pedagogical) are included into programs.

If the curriculum is fully and successfully fulfilled (complete course of theoretical and practical training and final attestation), graduates receive a standard document on the award of a bachelor's degree with the qualification: Bachelor of Music.

  1. Preparatory Department

Foreign citizens who have completed secondary school program but do not speak Ukrainian or Russian are proposed to enter the Preparatory Department of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University. Studying at the Preparatory Department provides the opportunity to master Ukrainian (Russian) language as well as to acquire additional knowledge on profile subjects.

All teachers have extensive experience of working with foreign students.

Foreigners are enrolled at the basis of successful interview.

Learning conditions:

Terms of study: 8 or 9 months (depending on the program and curriculum of the Preparatory Department or on the time of arrival and the formation of groups)

Form of study: full-time.

Forms and methods of the educational process organizing: the educational process includes lectures, practical classes, independent work of the students, individual classes, weekly consultations.

Tuition fee is USD 1500.

Conditions and cost of accommodation

Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University has got dormitories for students and staff. A separate floor in a comfortable block-type dormitory№1 at the address Starosilska Street, 2, has been allocated for accommodation of foreigners. The rooms are designed for 1-2 people. Dormitories are equipped with the necessary furniture, appliances (washing machines/ dryers, kitchen: electric stoves, refrigerators), showers and toilets, there are also self-training rooms.

The cost of accommodation is about USD 90 per month.

 

Additional services

- Applicants are provided with training and information materials in accordance with the selected training program.

- Applicants have the right to free use of a modern library with branches in the buildings of the University, as well as a sports complex with a swimming pool and gyms.

- The university has more than 80 SMART-classrooms; training cyber polygon; Wi-Fi zones; concert and choreographic halls; dormitories; TV studio and press center; practice centers, laboratories and workshops galleries, resource center to support students with disabilities.

- Each group has its own supervisor. The supervisor helps applicants to adapt to new conditions of studying and living.

On the 14th – 17th 2011 in Malmo, Sweden, the General Assembly of European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA) approved the application form of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University as an Associate Member of EAEA.


European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA) is the European non-profit organization and a European NGO with 116 member organizations in 43 countries. EAEA influences EU policies on non-formal adult education and lifelong learning; represents adult education civil society in official working groups and conferences.

The benefits for our University as a member of the Association are as follows:

- We can add our voice to the debate on adult education and actively support the advocacy work for adult education in Europe.
