On May 24-25, 2023, within the framework of the Festival of Science – 2023, which took place on May 11-25, the 2nd International Scientific and Practical Online Conference for students, postgraduate students, young scientists and practitioners "Creative Industries: Modern Trends" took place at the Faculty of Journalism, Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University.
The plenary session of the conference was opened with welcoming words of Nataliia Vinnikova, Vice-Rector for Research, Head of Academic Council at Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, Doctor of Science in Philology, Professor (Ukraine); Halyna Horbenko, Dean of the Faculty of Journalism at Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, PhD, Associate Professor (Ukraine); Irуna Kuznietsova, Chairman of the Board Creative Industries Association of Ukraine, Official Representative in Ukraine Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity (Ukraine); Niko Drok, Dr., Professor of Media & Civil Society of the Windesheim UAS (Netherlands); Lesia Stetsiv, Dean of the Faculty of Media Communications and Entrepreneurship of the Ukrainian Academy of Printing, PhD, Associate Professor (Ukraine).
The plenary session was moderated by Viktoriia Ivashchenko, Doctor of Science in Philology, Professor at the Department of Media Production and Publishing, Deputy Dean for Scientific Work at the Faculty of Journalism, Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University (Ukraine).
At the plenary session, speeches were delivered by: Maria Tumarkin, Associate Professor in Creative Writing of the School of Culture and Communication, Doctor of Philosophy in Cultural History, Faculty of Arts of the University of Melbourne (Australia); Sílvia Espinosa Mirabet, Doctor of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Tourism of the University of Girona (Spain) (the presentation was prepared together with María Franco, a student of the University of Girona); Olena Shevchenko, Doctor of Science in Social Communications, Professor at the Department of Information Activities and Media Communications of National University "Odesa Polytechnic" (Ukraine); Marta Tymińska, Doctor of Philosophy, Associate Professor at the Film and Media Department of the University of Gdansk (Poland); Oksana Sedashova, Associate Professor of KROK Business School, Doctor of Philosophy, International Creativity Ambassador in Ukraine (Ukraine); Dariia Skyrta, a student of the Faculty of Journalism at Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University (the presentation was made in cooperation with Vladyslav Skrypchenko, a student of the Faculty of Journalism (Ukraine).
At the sectional meetings, the conference participants discussed:
1) modern trends and prospects for the development of creative industries;
2) development of creative industries in crisis situations;
3) innovative technologies in creative industries;
4) the problem of education in the field of creative industries;
5) creative industries in the social and humanitarian sphere;
6) the role of creative industries in the development of the city and region;
7) current problems of journalism and new media as creative phenomena.

Students, graduate students and young scientists presented more than 60 reports at the sectional meetings.
On May 25, 3 workshops were held:
- "Game Design in the Time of Crisis" (moderator – Marta Tymińska, PhD, Associate Professor at the Film & Media Department of the University of Gdansk);
- "Creative, design, communication" (moderator –Marharyta Netreba, PhD, Associate Professor, Department of Advertising and Public Relations, Faculty of Journalism, Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University);
- "Social Communications and the War: Relevant Trends" (moderator – Yevhen Mahda, PhD, Associate Professor at the Department of Publishing and Editing of Educational and Scientific Institute for Publishing and Printing of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”).
On the follow ups of the conference 3 round tables with the participation of practitioners were held:
- "Advertising and PR Creativity in the Promotion of Modern Brands" (moderators: Marharyta Netreba, PhD, Associate Professor, Department of Advertising and Public Relations, Faculty of Journalism, Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University; Leonid Novokhatko, Doctor of Science in History, Professor, Head of the Department of Advertising and Public Relations, Faculty of Journalism, Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University);
- "Professional Inquiries of the Modern Publishing Industry During the Martial Law" (moderator – Olena Osmolovska, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Media Production and Publishing, Faculty of Journalism, Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University);
- "Author's Journalism Projects: from Creativity to Public Benefit" (moderators: Hanna Bezulik, Associate Professor of the Department of Journalism and New Media, Faculty of Journalism, Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University; Yana Fruktova, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Journalism and New Media, Faculty of Journalism, Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University).
More than 90 students, graduate students and young scientists participated in the workshops and round tables in addition to teachers and practitioners.
