On 20 June 2023, the four-day workshop "Migration, Forced Displacement and the Politics of Loss in Ukraine and Beyond" started as part of the UK-Ukraine Twinning Initiative in partnership with Queen's University Belfast, UK.
Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University was represented in this international research project by: Liliia Hrynevych, First Vice-Rector, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine in 2016-2019; Volodymyr Ogryzko, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in 2007-2009, Olena Aleksandrova, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities; Olha Vyhovska, Head of Scientific-Research Laboratory of Internationalization of Higher Education; Tetiana Kostiuk, Senior Research Fellow at Scientific-Research Laboratory of Internationalization of Higher Education; Viktor Zvonar, Professor at the Department of Management, Faculty of Economics and Management; Iryna Mankovska, Research Fellow at Scientific-Research Laboratory of Internationalization of Higher Education; Viktoriia Puhach, Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science and Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities.
The goal of this project is to consolidate cooperation between the two institutions by analyzing forced migration and developing proposals for further adaptation and support of internally displaced persons and Ukrainian refugees abroad.
The project's issues were highlighted in the presentations of Volodymyr Ogryzko "Historical Background of Ukraine's Losses During the War" and Liliia Hrynevych "Higher Education in Ukraine: Losses and Changes".
The speakers' presentations caused a lively discussion and interest among the academic community of Queen's University Belfast.
