From 29 October to 04 November 2023, Tetiana OPRYSHKO, Director of the University Library, PhD in Social Communications, took part in the International Summer School "University Libraries and Digital Transformations" held at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. The event was co-organised by the Polish Cultural and Educational Centre of Pavlo Tychyna USPU and the National Centre for Research and Development (Poland).
This summer school brought together leading experts from Ukrainian university libraries in Poznan. Throughout the week, Polish colleagues welcomed librarians from Ukraine and shared their own experience in digital transformation.
During the work of the school, the participants visited the Adam Mickiewicz University Library in Poznan, the Raczynski Public Library, the non-governmental Library of Society of Friends of Science, the Library of Historical College, the Library of the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism, and the Faculty of Biology at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. There, they had the opportunity to learn about the work and collections of leading libraries, the experience of introducing innovative technologies in the processing and storage of old print collections. The Wielkopolska Digital Library project and the Polish-Swedish programme for the restoration of old printed books from the Jesuit collection deserved special attention.
As a result of the school work, international library cooperation with foreign colleagues was established and the tasks of further development of the library at Borys Grinchenko University were defined, in particular, the processing and storage of the special collection of old printed books by Borys Grinchenko.
We are grateful to Adam Mickiewicz University and personally to the organiser of the Summer School of Librarians Kostiantyn MAZUR for the opportunity to provide training programs for the academic staff of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University! It was a great opportunity to share experiences and discuss the current challenges libraries are facing.
