On September 02, 2024, a Japanese delegation headed by Professor Yoshihiko Okabe, Director of the Ukrainian Research Center of Kobe Gakuin University and President of the Japanese Association of Ukrainian Studies, visited Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University.
Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University was represented by Acting Rector Oleksandr Turuntsev, Head of Academic Council of the University, Vice-Rector for Research Nataliia Vinnikova, Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Languages Ivan Semenist, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Ostap Kovalchuk, Deputy Dean for Research of the Faculty of Oriental Languages Kostiantyn Komisarov, and Deputy Dean for Scientific, Methodological and Educational Work of the Faculty of Oriental Languages Yuliia Boryshpolets.
During the visit, the honored guests had the opportunity to get acquainted with the educational infrastructure of the University, as well as attend classes at the Faculty of Oriental Languages and the Faculty of Journalism.
During the official part of the meeting, Acting Rector Oleksandr Turuntsev emphasized that Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University and Kobe Gakuin University had recently become partners and expressed confidence that in the future the educational institutions would have many years of cooperation, which would become stronger every year.
Oleksandr Turuntsev welcomed the decision of two countries to open the Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in Japan, which will be headed by Professor Yoshihiko Okabe from October 1, 2024. On behalf of Grinchenko University, Oleksandr Turuntsev expressed confidence that the activities of the Honorary Consulate in Japan will bring significant results for the benefit of the peoples of Ukraine and Japan and wished Mr. Okabe success in his new position.
On behalf of the Japanese side, Professor Yoshihiko Okabe thanked for the hospitable reception at the University and, on behalf of the Japanese Association of Ukrainian Studies, awarded Acting Rector Oleksandr Turuntsev and Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Languages Ivan Semenist with a сertificate of honor and a medal of the Association for their significant contribution to strengthening Japanese-Ukrainian relations.
