On October 27, 2022, a foreign lecturer Oleksandra SYNOWIEC, PhD in Sociology, Professor of the Department of Applied Sociological Sciences at Silesian University of Technology (Poland), visited media students of the Faculty of Journalism at Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University. The event was organized by Anzhelika DOSENKO, Associate Professor of the Department of International Journalism at BGKU.
The lecture on “Introduction to Intercultural Communication” was devoted to the issues of cultural and intercultural interaction, the main aspects of the formation of the nation's communication culture today, and changes in intercultural and communication processes.
Ms. Oleksandra began the meeting by addressing the participants in Ukrainian, emphasizing that she had made great progress in mastering it. The lecture itself was held in English as part of the introduction of guest lectures at the Department of International Journalism.
The students asked questions to the professor and communicated fluently, which confirmed rather high level of English proficiency of the students. “I got a great pleasure from communicating with Ukrainian students,” emphasized Oleksandra Synowiec.
At the end of the meeting, Vitalii Tereshchuk, Head of the Department of International Journalism at BGKU, addressed the speaker in Polish with words of gratitude for the interesting lecture and invited her to further cooperation.
Oleksandra Synowiec, a researcher in the field of intercultural communications, author of more than 50 scientific papers, and multiple grant winner, shared her experience and worldview with Ukrainian students - future international journalists.
