On October 31, 2024, Academic Council of the University approved a report on the results of the implementation of the research theme of the Department of Ukrainian Literature, Comparative and Grinchenko Studies, Department of World Literature at the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology, Culture and Art “Typology of Identities in Artistic and Critical Discourses” (registration number: 0117U005200; deadline: November 2017 - November 2024; theme leaders: Doctor of Science in Philology, Professor Olena Brovko, PhD in Philology, Professor Yurii Kovbasenko). The results of the research were presented by Olena Brovko, Head of the Department of Ukrainian Literature, Comparative and Grinchenko Studies. The research topic involved 20 academic and research staff of the departments, 79 students of the first (bachelor's), second (master's), third (educational and scientific) levels of higher education and the degree of doctor of science.
The scientific research was implemented in four areas:
- determining the potential of literary texts for the formation of national and civic identity in modern Ukraine;
- anthropological and gender artistic models: typology, identity problems; axiological identity in intercultural dialogue;
- post-totalitarian and post-colonial memory: representations in fiction.
At the stage of forming the theory and methodology of the research and determining the corpus of texts for literary analysis, a review and systematization of theoretical and methodological approaches to understanding the types of identities in fiction was carried out, criteria for typology of identities in fiction texts were developed; forms of reconstruction of national memory and traumatic experience in Ukrainian and other European cultures were identified. The stage of interpretation of fiction and critical literature through the prism of identity typology combined the study of the main parameters of the interpretation of national, civic, artistic identity in fiction; analysis of textual projections of identities; interpretation of narratives about constructive and destructive ways of preserving memory; interpretation of works of art that represent value dominants in Ukrainian and foreign literature of the late 19th - early 21st centuries. The performers of the research have processed 1,109 texts: 947 literary texts of epic and drama; 43 poetry collections; 119 literary and biographical texts. Within the framework of the implementation of the theme, 7 editions of literary works have been prepared for publication.
The results of implementation of the research topic are covered in 8 individual monographs, 4 collective monographs, 21 sections of collective monographs, 22 articles in publications indexed in the scientometric databases Scopus and Web of Science, 105 articles in professional publications of Ukraine, 73 publications of an approbatory nature in Ukrainian and foreign journals and collections of scientific works, 16 textbooks and manuals, 27 publications by students under the guidance of department teachers and presented at scientific events of the international, all-Ukrainian, regional levels.
The research results were implemented in the educational process of Grinchenko University through:
- the work of the competence centers "Literary Theater" and "Grinchenko Studies" at the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology, Culture and Art;
- development of the theme in the qualification works of bachelors, masters, dissertations of doctors of philosophy;
- annual updating of the work programs of educational disciplines;
- introduction of educational components to the educational program of the second (master's) level "Ukrainian Language and Literature" in a new edition;
- opening of the educational and professional program "Applied Philology" and the interdisciplinary educational and scientific program "Biographical Studies and Textology" for applicants of the second (master's) level of higher education;
- updating of the educational and scientific program of the third (educational and scientific) level "Philology".
Within the framework of the implementation of the topic, three dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Science and seven dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the specialty 035 Philology were defended.
Participation in the implementation of international projects, in particular the colloquium "Ukrainian-Georgian Literary and Cultural Relations" jointly with Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (2021), guest lectures "Modern Ukrainian Literature Undermines the Empire", panel discussion "Transformation of Gender Roles in Ukrainian War Literature") under the program of the Ukrainian Week in Leipzig (Germany) (2023), projects "Art Residencies" (2023), "Theatre Residency" (2024), initiated by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland, Erasmus+ academic mobility programs contributed to the deepening of the study of literary vectors of the problem of transformations of personal identity and various communities in the migration processes of the postmodern era, the interpretation of narratives about ways of preserving memory, and counteraction to imperial propaganda discourse.
The practical orientation of the scientific research results is due to close cooperation with secondary education institutions, as well as participation in literary, artistic and media projects. In particular, the results of the “Science to School” study were implemented in the educational process of secondary education institutions and presented during pedagogical and educational activities - in the series of webinars “New Strategies of Literary Education in Ukraine”, the thematic segment of the philological school for high school students “Our Heroes”, the literary competition “Young CoronaNation” and were presented to the public owing to the participation of the performers of the topic in the projects of Les Kurbas Center, Radio “Culture”, “Public Radio”, TV channels “UKRLIFE.TV”, “Pershy Zakhidny”, etc.
