Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities Expands Partnership and Research Horizons

The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University took part in the Call for proposals launched by the Center for Governance and Culture in Europe of the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland) and got funding for a two-year research project and international summer school.

The joint Swiss-Ukrainian project “Black Sea Quaint Region Code (Black Sea QR Code)” will be implemented at Grinchenko University during 2025-2026 and will include, among other things, research on the Black Sea region in a retro and modern global context, exogenous and endogenous factors of (in)stability in the region, peace and conflict resolution/transformation, the Black Sea region in the context of the intertwining of national identities, cultures and religions. The final stage of the project will be a week-long summer school at Grinchenko University for a wide audience of Ukrainian and foreign researchers, representatives of higher education institutions of the Black Sea region countries, students and other stakeholders.

The project will be implemented by a highly professional team of professors from different departments of the Faculty under academic supervision of the Dean, Doctor of Science in Philosophy, Professor Olena Aleksandrova, the coordinator is Doctor of Science in Public Administration, Professor of the Department of Political Science and Sociology Tetiana Kostiuk. Representatives of partner HEIs from Turkey, Georgia, Bulgaria, Romania will be invited to provide their expertise in framework of the summer school.

This pilot project of cooperation with Swiss educational and scientific institutions opens up broad prospects for the University in general and for the Faculty in particular.
