On April 7, 2025, an open lecture “One Hundred Million Arigato” was held in the format of a video conference by Sergiy Korsunsky, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Japan, Honorary Professor of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University, Doctor of Science in Physics and Mathematics, Honored Economist of Ukraine.

The lecture was moderated by Nataliia Vinnikova, Vice-Rector for Research and International Affairs, Head of Academic Council of the University, Doctor of Science in Philology, Professor.

The lecture, which aroused great interest among the participants, was attended by a wide range of Grinchenko University’s students and guests from other higher education institutions of Ukraine - more than 180 people in total, including philologists in the Japanese language, historians, philosophers, international relations specialists and journalists.

The theme of the lecture – “One Hundred Million Arigato” – symbolizes gratitude to Japan for the incredible support of Ukraine from the first moments of the full-scale invasion of the russian federation. During the lecture, Sergiy Korsunsky not only spoke about the work of the Embassy of Ukraine in Japan during the war, the comprehensive support of the Japanese people in difficult times for Ukraine, but also gave an opportunity to learn more about the history, culture, traditions and modernity of the Land of the Rising Sun.

Lecturers and students had the opportunity to ask questions to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Japan Sergiy Korsunsky and received comprehensive answers.

At the end of the lecture, Ivan Semenist, Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Languages, Doctor of Science in Philology, Associate Professor, on behalf of the Faculty of Oriental Languages and the Department of Japanese Language and Translation, expressed his gratitude to Sergiy Volodymyrovych for his tireless work for the benefit of Ukrainian-Japanese relations as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Japan, support of numerous initiatives of the University to strengthen educational and scientific cooperation with Japanese universities, expansion of the partnership network of Grinchenko University with Japanese higher education institutions. By the way, due to the established partnership, dozens of students from Grinchenko University were able to undergo internships in Japan.
