Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University has taken an important step in the development of IT education by signing a memorandum of cooperation with the world leader in information and communication technologies - Huawei Ukraine. The document was signed by the Acting Rector of the University, Oleksandr Turuntsev, and CEO of Huawei Ukraine, Tony Cao.

This agreement consolidates a long-term partnership and opens up new opportunities for students and faculty at the university. During the ceremony, Tony Cao noted that Grinchenko University is a leader in many fields, particularly in information technology, which makes this partnership particularly promising.
Oleksandr Turuntsev thanked the partners and noted that thanks to Huawei's social responsibility programme “WiFi in Shelter”, a reliable wireless access network was deployed at the University. This project not only provided the university community with a critically important resource during martial law, but also demonstrated the stability and quality of Huawei equipment in practice. He also shared specific results that have already been achieved through cooperation with Huawei. Among them is the opening of the Huawei ICT Academy. Eight teachers are undergoing intensive training to become certified instructors. Starting from September 1, this knowledge will be fully integrated into the educational process, allowing students to study according to the standards of a world leader. The Faculty of Information Technologies and Mathematics is already using Huawei network equipment in the educational process. Active work is underway to expand this range for even deeper practical experience for students.
The signing of the memorandum marked the beginning of a new stage in the training of IT specialists at Grinchenko University, combining the academic capabilities of the University with innovative technologies and expertise of a world leader. As part of the cooperation, Grinchenko University plans to join key educational initiatives of Huawei, including the Dual Education program, the prestigious international Huawei ICT Competition, and the Student Tech Challenge competition for students of technical specialties.
These projects are aimed both at training highly qualified specialists ready for the challenges of the modern digital world, and at expanding opportunities for students to prove themselves on the international stage.
As a sign of respect, Oleksandr Turuntsev, on behalf of Grinchenko University, presented Tony Cao with the painting “Dawn in Kyiv” (by Ostap Kovalchuk). The theme of the painting echoes the logo of our partners – a stylized image resembling the sun. In turn, Tony Qiao presented Oleksandr Petrovych with a souvenir commemorative medal in honor of the 25th anniversary of Huawei’s activities in Ukraine.
The Huawei Ukraine delegation was also given a tour of the university's educational facilities. Guests were shown the modern laboratories of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Mathematics, which are already equipped with Huawei technology, and visited the Confucius Classrooms, which emphasised the university's intercultural dialogue and global approach to education.
