From 16 to 20 February 2026, lecturers of the Department of Social Pedagogy and Social Work took part in the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility Programme at the University of Ostrava (Czech Republic).
The University of Ostrava was attended by Vice-Rector for Social and Humanitarian Affairs, Professor of the Department Tetiana Liakh, Associate Professor Olha Shved and Senior Lecturer Anastasiia Kotelevets. The program included working meetings with the management and faculty members of the Faculty of Social Studies at the University of Ostrava to discuss the development of partnership in the fields of social work, volunteering and support for students with special educational needs.
As part of their teaching activities, Olha Shved delivered a lecture entitled “Identification of Child Victims of Violence and the Child Protection System in Ukraine”, Tetiana Liakh presented “Social Work under Martial Law in Ukraine”, and Anastasiia Kotelevets gave a lecture titled “Student Volunteering as a Platform for the Development of Professional Skills in Social Work”. The lectures generated active professional discussion among Czech and international students.
A practical case of social work in de-occupied communities was presented by Oleh Dibrova, a PhD student at the Department of Social Pedagogy and Social Work, who was undertaking a research internship at University of Ostrava as part of his dissertation research.
During the mobility period, meetings were held with representatives of OPU – Organizace pro pomoc uprchlíkům, as well as a review of the activities of Centrum Pyramida, followed by discussions on the prospects for joint academic and practice-oriented initiatives.
The implementation of the mobility program contributed to strengthening the department’s international cooperation, enhancing teaching competencies, and sharing Ukrainian experience in social work and volunteering within the European academic space.
