Meet-up with Scholars from Tallinn University (Estonia)

On March 18, 2025, Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University hosted a meeting with scholars from the School of Humanities at Tallinn University (Republic of Estonia). The event was dedicated to discussing strategic partnership and joint scientific initiatives.

The meeting was moderated by Nataliia Vinnikova, Vice-Rector for Research and International Affairs and Head of the University Academic Council. She presented the key vectors of Grinchenko University's activities, emphasizing the institution's strategic priorities as an innovative European research and educational center.

Uku Lember, Director of the School of Humanities at Tallinn University, shared the experience of implementing international projects and outlined the broad spectrum of research interests of the Estonian scholars present at the meeting, including: Epp Annus, Associate Professor, whose research focuses on literary studies, cultural memory, and postcolonial studies; Raili Nugin, Associate Professor, who specializes in qualitative sociology; Anna Verschik, Distinguished Professor of General Linguistics, who outlined prospects for cooperation in translation studies, language contacts, and sociolinguistics; Daniele Monticelli, Professor of Semiotics and Translation Studies, a scholar in the fields of philosophy of language and contemporary critical theory; Terje Kalamees, Deputy Director of the School, who participated in discussing opportunities for inter-institutional interaction.

The meeting was attended by scholars from Grinchenko University, including representatives from: the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, led by Dean Vitalii Andreiev; the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology, Culture and Art, led by Dean Iryna Rusnak; the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology, led by Dean Valentyna Yakuba; the Research Laboratory for Internationalization of Higher Education, led by its Head Rusudan Makhachashvili.

Heads of departments and leading researchers from these structural units took an active part in the presentation and subsequent discussions. As part of the visit, the foreign colleagues had the opportunity to visit the Digital Hub of Innovative Solutions and familiarize themselves with the collections of the University Library.

The meeting concluded with a professional discussion focused on the presented research areas. Participants discussed practical steps toward cooperation across all outlined aspects, as well as the preparation and implementation of joint grant projects.
