Katowice, Poland
Our University has started the year 2015 with an active international cooperation. We have signed an Agreement of cooperation with our new partner from Poland, the University of Silesia.
The University of Silesia was established on 8 June 1968 as Poland's ninth university. The university was created through a merger of a branch of the Jagiellonian University existing in Katowice since 1963 with the Higher School of Pedagogy which at that time was the only academic institution in the region, with its roots dating back to 1928.
The University of Silesia is one of the most prestigious universities in the southern part of the country and one of the biggest public universities in Poland. It collaborates with over 300 higher education institutions from all over the world through student and academic staff exchanges and joint educational and research projects. The University of Silesia has signed over 250 international agreements which enable the exchange of students and academic personnel as well as taking up joint research. At the same time, the University actively participates in international educational and research initiatives, and is a member of international academic organizations, e.g. IAU, CRE, AUDEM, IAUP, CBUR.
The educational offer of the university covers Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral programmes taught both in Polish and English. 12 faculties and several independent, interdisciplinary units provide 50 programmes and over 160 specialisations.
In the frame of the signed Agreement our institutions plan to take part in joint EU projects, webinars, and conferences, develop academic mobility and exchange their experience in appropriate fields.
