The event started with a minute of silence in honoring the memory of the victims of the crimes under the German occupation during World War II, which took more than 100,000 lives.
Greeted the participants of the roundtable Viktor Ogneviuk, Rector of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine. “ It is impossible to build modern Ukraine without memory about it’s tragic past”, - said he.
Oksana Salata, Head of the Chair of History of Ukraine of the Faculty of History and Philosophy of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, Doctor of History, Professor made the report “Babyn Yar tragedy according to memory witnesses and contemporaries”.
At the round table unique book “Babyn Yar. Fates and Memory” was presented. The author of the book is Felix Levitas, Head of Chair of the Methodology of the Social and Humanitarian Education, Doctor of Historical Sciences, professor. Finally, Viktor Ogneviuk thanked to all participants of the event and especially to Felix Levitas and underlined, that his book helped to remember our fellow countrymen from Kyiv, which died at the Babij Yar, and bow to the memory of the righteous for their courage, friendship and love.
