The Magna Charta Observatory was founded by the University of Bologna and the European University Association (EUA). The Magna Charta Observatory gathers information, prepare documents relating to the respect to, and protection of the fundamental university values and rights laid down in the Magna Charta Universitatum.

The Magna Charta Universitatum is a document, drafted in Barcelona in January 1988 by the Rectors of 80 oldest European Universities. The aim of this document is to celebrate the deepest values of University traditions and to encourage strong bonds among European Universities.

Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University joined the Magna Charta Observatory to celebrate the deepest values of University traditions on 17th of September, 2010

On 14th of June, 2011 Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University became an associate member of European Association for the Education for Adults – EAEA.

EAEA is a European NGO that works with adult education and lifelong learning and promotes them through policy advocacy, projects and publications, services for EAEA members. EAEA promotes the purposes of adult learning: personal fulfillment, social change, active citizenship, environmental sustainability, cultural and intercultural awareness and knowledge, skills development and in employment related fields.

EAEA works with national and regional governments and international bodies and organizations such as the European Union , the Council of Europe, the International Council for Adult Education (ICAE, of which EAEA is a member), UNESCO and the International Labor Organization (ILO).

Now EAEA consists of 127 member organizations from 43 countries working in the fields of adult learning.
