Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan (Poland)

Tetiana Karpus, the student of the Institute of Journalism of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, spent the first half of the academic year 2017/2018 at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, taking part in the academic mobility program.
She has shared her impressions about her exchange study experience:
“This academic year I have had a chance to go to University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznan. Our University has already got an Agreement about Double Diplomas with this Polish university, but it was the first time when the exchange occurred within the frame of Bachelor's Agreement on Cooperation.
The University of Adam Mickiewicz will soon mark its 100th anniversary. Every semester more than one hundred students from different countries and continents come to study there. A special portal with AMU-pie courses in English has been created for them. The disciplines in the curriculum are of great current interest, they touch the most acute problems of the present. Thus, at the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism, I did the courses on political events in the Middle East (the war in Syria, the formation of an ISIS terrorist organization), studied oratory in the course of "Art of Dialogue" through lectures-conferences TEDx and the highest-ranking releases of the BBC HARDtalk show, learnt the economic successes of China and Asia in general and the course that had the philosophical name "They cut, we bleed" about the revolutions, protests and political meetings in the European Union.
The course "Social movements, protests and radicalization" was of special interest for me. We did not only study mass protests, but also analyzed their genesis, reasons for development and gaining popularity, investigated the risk groups that could become participants of certain social movements and the causes of their break-up. Also, there were subjects that did not belong to any faculty and were more focused on group research cases. One of them was called "Feminism and a Challenge of Intersectionality", where students from different faculties discussed topical issues of gender equality and feminism.
Today Poznan has lively nightlife, exquisite museums, charming colorful buildings, renovated architecture together with preserved one. Everyone will be able to find something here for themselves!"
