On April 27, 2021, at the Faculty of Information Technology and Management, Veronica Albanese, Professor in Methods of Teaching Mathematics at the University of Granada (Spain), conducted an online class for mathematics students on geometric constructions and plane transformations. This kind of master class, which was also attended by the teachers of the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics, was held under the agreement on academic mobility with the University of Granada and with the support of the European Union's Erasmus + exchange program that provides the opportunity to study, do internship or teach in another country.

The novelty for Ukrainian educational practice was that such a class was conducted without traditional geometric tools - a ruler, a compass. Both students and teachers experimented with a sheet of paper, folding it in a certain way, then "translated" into mathematics the name of the fold lines and the transformation, looked for appropriate tools and performed construction in the virtual environment GeoGebra. They saw the practical implementation of the strategy of "soft" (you could even say "silent") teaching, when the teacher was only an unobtrusive and very cautious tutor, directing the development of student thinking in the right direction, stimulating their movement forward, to the goal. The students did everything by themselves: experimented, tried "with their own hands", researched, expressed hypotheses and tested them.

According to students, this method of studying mathematical concepts, objects and their properties is very useful and exciting, especially in the online classroom. The class was interesting for both students and teachers, and we hope that our cooperation with Veronica will continue.

In April 2021, Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University won an international UN grant "Gender-ing ELT: International perspectives, practices, policies", focused on real developments in the field of sustainable development of the United Nations on gender equality. The aim of the project is to study gender challenges in teaching English in the conditions of inclusiveness and equal access. 10 partner countries, led by the British Council, will start cooperation and research, which will continue during 2021-2022. Ukraine will be represented in this project by Anna Chesnokova, Professor of the Department of English Philology and Translation at the Institute of Philology.
