Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University Community’s Address about the Russian Military Invasion into Ukrain

Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University Community’s Address about the Russian Military Invasion into Ukraine To the International Academic Community!

The University Community is appealing to all universities to urge their statesmen and governments and cut all cooperation with Russia:

 - Amend the UN Charter to remove the aggressor from the Security Council!

 - Close the sky over Ukraine!

 - Prohibit the entry of aggressor’s seagoing vessels to the seaports!

 - Terminate flights with Russia!

Russia has massively been bombarding Ukraine all days long, both military units and ordinary citizens, killing the elderly, the children – all of us, disregarding all laws, manners, or conventions. Help to stop criminal acts against peaceful European country! If we join forces against the enemy, we will win! We believe in your effective support and solidarity!

¡Solo unidos somos invencibles!

in English

We, the Ukrainian citizens, address the world community!

For eight years we have been resisting the war with Russia. In 2014 the aggressor occupied the Crimea. Then they invaded the eastern parts of Luhansk and Donetsk regions, threatening openly to invade the whole country.

We have been standing firm for our right to life, our liberty, our choices.
We are defending the values of the civilized world!
We are grateful to all who support Ukraine. It is obvious that diplomatic negotiations do not stop the aggression. Now we have to stand for every inch of our soil with all our might!

The world has seen how hypocritically the Kremlin is lying about us and our history. Still, we will stop them from destroying our state and our future! We are on our own land, and defend our right to live in freedom!

United we stand!
Together we win.

  • Symbiosis of digital tools and classical approaches to teaching Mathematics from Spanish guest-lecturer

    April 27, 2021
    Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University

On April 27, 2021, at the Faculty of Information Technology and Management, Veronica Albanese, Professor in Methods of Teaching Mathematics at the University of Granada (Spain), conducted an online class for mathematics students on geometric constructions and plane transformations. This kind of master class, which was also attended by the teachers of the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics, was held under the agreement on academic mobility with the University of Granada and with the support of the European Union's Erasmus + exchange program that provides the opportunity to study, do internship or teach in another country.

The novelty for Ukrainian educational practice was that such a class was conducted without traditional geometric tools - a ruler, a compass. Both students and teachers experimented with a sheet of paper, folding it in a certain way, then "translated" into mathematics the name of the fold lines and the transformation, looked for appropriate tools and performed construction in the virtual environment GeoGebra. They saw the practical implementation of the strategy of "soft" (you could even say "silent") teaching, when the teacher was only an unobtrusive and very cautious tutor, directing the development of student thinking in the right direction, stimulating their movement forward, to the goal. The students did everything by themselves: experimented, tried "with their own hands", researched, expressed hypotheses and tested them.

According to students, this method of studying mathematical concepts, objects and their properties is very useful and exciting, especially in the online classroom. The class was interesting for both students and teachers, and we hope that our cooperation with Veronica will continue.
